What To Do With Someone's Cynicism

If they call your optimism naive.

If they say your wild idea is too wild.

If they call your hopes unrealistic and your beliefs ungrounded.

If they say your view of the world is impractical.

That’s their tight-fisted cynicism justifying their small life.

Your job isn’t to convince them they’re wrong. Or help them see that the world’s better when you face it with open hands.

Your job is to live into your naive optimism. Put flesh on your too wild ideas. Yell your unrealistic hopes and ungrounded beliefs from the rooftops and relentlessly work and will them into being on the sidewalks. Until they become real and history is bigger, better for it.

And it is the cynic who’s left with an impractical view of the world.
