Advice from All Over
The other evening, someone asked me who my mentors are. To which my answer was: everyone.
I'm not being cute. I'm not being coy. I'm being honest.
I've gotten too much insight into life and living from people half my age, graffiti, fellow airplane passengers, and old folk tunes to think otherwise.
Great advice, I've come to believe, is all over. Our job is to keep our mind and heart open to it. Or, put another way, to allow our mind and heart to be enlarged by it.
If we can live like this - and I certainly don't all the time - a world of mentors, advisors, guides is ours. We can find insight in the oddest of nooks and least expected of crannies.
And we can see most everyone, perhaps even most everything, as a potential source of wisdom.
