I'm The Type of Person Who...

I'm the type of person who makes plans, routines, processes. I'm the type of person who's good with names and bad with asking for help.

I'm the type of person who mostly reads nonfiction, pulls for the underdog, answers every email.

Those are all true about me. And they're also not all of me.

Because what's also true is that "I'm the type of person who..." has a self-limiting quality to it. It can reduce us to this set way of being and discourage curiosity for or exploration of other possible ways.

Perhaps, instead, we could view ourselves a bit more expansively. Perhaps we could lean towards - as Walt Whitman would say - our largeness, the multitudes we contain.

And rather than be any one type of person, be a person who can't be contained by any one type.
